Research Interests:
My research emphasizes the role of soil organic matter in controlling soil fertility and the sustainability and productivity of managed and natural ecosystems. I use stable isotopes to understand the carbon and nitrogen cycling processes that affect soil organic matter and microbial-plant interactions as affected by alternative agricultural management, global climate change, and ecosystem disturbance.
Professional Activities:
Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America
Editor Board Applied and Environmental Soil Science
Editorial Board Ecological Processes
President Western Soil Science Society of America
