Focused on the theme of “International Agriculture Cooperation, Innovation and Development”, we, the scientists from Australia, USA, Canada, Japan, Hungary and China gathered here in Yangling of China from November 5th to 7th, 2007 have made in-depth and extensive discussion on the important strategic and scientific issues, such as dryland farming and water-saving agriculture, high-efficiency animal husbandry and disease prevention and control, food science and safety, environmental protection and sustainable development. All participants benefit from this forum greatly.
Today, global warming, ecological environment deterioration, and continuous increase of world population remain the critical issues, which bring to us the severe challenges for sustainable agriculture development and food safety. The accelerated pace of world economic globalization has rendered an increasing intimate interrelationship within agricultural industries worldwide. So it is getting more imperative and beneficial to strengthen international cooperation and exchanges among agricultural scientists and research institutions. We have to jointly take the challenges and share the new achievement to promote the continuous development of agricultural science and technology. The Yangling International Agri-science Forum has provided us an ideal platform for our cooperation and exchange in the future.
Yangling, the unique state Agricultural Hi-tech Industries Demonstration Zone in China, is the birthplace of 5000 years agriculture civilization. Northwest A&F University is one of the most prestigious universities in China. The annual China Yangling Agricultural Hi-tech Fair has become the largest gathering place for agriculture hi-tech achievements and a huge market for the demand of farming techniques. It is also one of the most attractive places for agricultural scientists to exchange innovative results and achievements. The concurrent Yangling International Agri-Science Forum and Yangling Agricultural Hi-tech Fair will definitely produce far-reaching impact throughout the country and the world as well.
We hope that scientists from agricultural education and research institutions worldwide follow the principles of promoting the development through close collaboration, problem-solving approach and mutual benefits. We will make full use of this Forum to find out new access to the international cooperation and achieve more cooperative success in resources sharing, cooperative researches, exchanges of technique services and professional training.
