The development of agriculture and food production systems for a diversity of agronomic conditions will need to be successful to overcome the uncertainty of climate change, the market variations and to feed the population of the future. The discoveries in science will, as in the past, contribute to the success of modern agriculture but policy makers and science managers will need to developed integrated governance models to ensure sustainable agriculture and food production systems of benefit to the producers and the consumers. Countries and international multilateral organizations such as OECD are looking at how science and policy making can be integrated under the theme of Agriculture and Knowledge and Innovation systems. The systems will be non linear, integrated nationally and internationally. Scientist and policy makers will need to share the common drivers to ensure science results are implemented in the innovation continuum.
