Chinese local cattle are important genetic resource for the development of the Chinese cattle industry, and important raw material of breeding for cattle new breeds. In this study, molecular genetic characteristics of functional genes of economic traits in the Chinese yellow cattle (Qinchuan, Nanyang, Luxi, Jiaxian red cattle, etc.) were studied using PCR-RFLP and PCR-SSCP, gene cloning, expression and localization, DNA sequencing, genome correlation analysis and bioinformatics analysis methods to find with growth and meat quality traits related DNA molecular markers, to establish molecular breeding technology system of economic traits selection and to promote the rapid development of China's beef cattle industry. In the study, the molecular characteristics of the 120 functional genes were revealed in Chinese cattle breeds. These genes are involved in energy metabolism, muscle generating, fat metabolism, disease resistance, reproduction and meat quality related genes. More than 475 polymorphic loci were analyzed. 537 SNPs were screened. It was found that 189 loci in 73 genes can be used as molecular markers for cattle breeding by means of association analysis of gene polymorphism loci with growth and meat quality traits in Chinese cattle.
