CHEN, Xianming
Dr. Chen is a research plant pathologist in the US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) and an adjunct professor at Washington State University at Pullman, Washington, USA. He is leading the USDA-ARS national project on Improved Control of Stripe Rust in Cereal Crops.
Dr. Chen was born and grew up in Lantian, Shaanxi, China. He obtained a B.S. degree in Plant Protection from Northwest Agricultural University (now Northwest A&F University) in 1982 and an M.S. in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 1991 in Plant Pathology from Washington State University. He has conducted research on control of cereal rusts for more than 30 years. Dr. Chen has authored and co-authored more than 170 publications in referred international journals and invited to give more than 100 presentations in national and international meetings. He has served as associate editor for Phytopathology, senior editor for Plant Disease, and editor-in-chief for Crop Protection. In 2012, he was selected as a fellow by the American Phytopathological Society (APS) to recognize his contribution to plant pathology.
