Education Background:

1979-1983  Studied as an undergraduate at the Journalism Department of Renmin University of China and received a bachelor's degree in law.

1990     Received a certificate of completion from the United Nations Interpreter Training Advanced Course.

1991     Went to Columbia University in the United States for further studies and participated in the quantitative analysis training class at the University of Michigan, and received a certificate of completion in statistical analysis.

1995-1999 Went to China Agricultural University to study for master's and doctoral degrees on the job, and received a doctorate in management.

2000     Went to Duke University in the United States for further study.

Working Experiences:

1985  transferred to the Central Rural Policy Research Office and the Liaison Office of the Rural Development Research Center of the State Council to engage in rural survey and research work.

1987  transferred to the National Rural Reform Experimental Zone Office and worked in the rural grassroots experimental zone for 11 years. In the same year, he went to the Institute of Social Survey (ISR) of the University of Michigan in the United States for further studies, obtained a professional completion certificate in sampling survey, and followed up at the World Bank Headquarters. After the training, he returned to China and was responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the World Bank's policy loans to China.

1988  served as deputy director of the Monitoring Division of the National Rural Reform Pilot Zone Office.

1993  served as the Research Director of the National Rural Reform Pilot Zone Office.

1995  served as deputy director in charge of the National Rural Reform Pilot Zone Office.

1998  left the National Rural Reform Pilot Zone Office and served as researcher, director of the Scientific Research Division, and member of the Academic Committee of the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture.

2004  Renmin University of China established the School of Agriculture and Rural Development. Wen Tiejun was hired as the dean as an imported talent (resigned in 2013). He successively served as the director of the Rural Construction Center, the executive director of the Institute of Advanced Sustainable Development, and the director of China Rural Economy and Rural Development. Director of the Financial Research Center and re-elected as deputy director of the academic committee of the school.

2012  As the executive dean, he restored the "China Rural Development Institute" established by Yan Yangchu in 1936 at Southwest University; he also serves as the executive dean of the China Rural Development Institute of Southwest University.

2013  Included in the Fujian Province Hundred Talents Plan and concurrently served as the executive dean, professor and researcher of the Strait Rural Construction College of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University.
